Welcoming Dr. Merete Wedell-Wedellsborg to Maternity Foundation’s board

We are proud to welcome Dr. Merete Wedell-Wedellsborg to Maternity Foundation’s board.

Merete brings over 20 years of experience in developing executive teams, top leaders, and talents, gained through her previous roles at Royal Danish Defense Academy, Danske Bank, and others.

Building on a strong educational foundation – including credentials as a licensed clinical psychologist specialising in organisational psychology and a Ph.D. in Business Economics from Copenhagen Business School – she currently serves as an Adjunct Professor in Leadership at IMD and runs her own business psychology practice. Her clients include industry leaders across Europe and the US in sectors such as finance, pharmaceuticals, consumer products, energy, and family offices. Merete is also a book author and has written several articles on the psychology of leadership and related topics.

“As Maternity Foundation continues to grow in reach, engagement, and impact worldwide, we’re thrilled to welcome Merete Wedell-Wedellsborg to our board. Her extensive experience as an executive advisor will be invaluable in strengthening our internal leadership and supporting our growing team – so we can continue advancing our mission to ensure safer births for women and newborns,” says Anna Frellsen, CEO at Maternity Foundation.

Merete joins Maternity Foundation as it celebrates its 20th anniversary – a milestone marked by reaching about 500,000 healthcare professionals worldwide. Through its innovative programmes and digital tool, the Safe Delivery App, Maternity Foundation is reaching and supporting midwives to deliver quality care to mothers and newborns in remote and fragile settings, where maternal and newborn mortality rates remain highest.

Merete says: “Maternity Foundation stands for the most important mission in the world: Making sure that every woman and newborn in the world can have a safer childbirth. Through the years, I have followed how Maternity Foundation has made progress led by CEO Anna Frellsen and her clever team together with the Board chaired by Henriette Svarre Nielsen and supported by long term partners. I couldn’t be more delighted and honored to support this important mission in every way I can as an executive advisor, psychologist, academic, writer, and as a mother.
