Apply for an internship at Maternity Foundation

Join our international non-profit as an intern and gain hands-on experience while working to ensure safer births for women.

What We Offer

A meaningful internship where you’ll be part of an international work environment and a team passionate about improving maternal and newborn health. We value the unique perspectives and creativity our interns bring and are committed to providing a meaningful and engaging learning experience.

We are looking for several interns across various teams. If you’re passionate about any of the following areas, this could be the perfect opportunity for you:

  • Insights, Research and Learning – Hands-on experience in research and data analysis
  • Communications – Digital storytelling, campaigns, and social media
  • HR and admin – Recruitment, onboarding, and HR processes
  • Business development – Business development, donor relations and communications

Practicalities

The internship is for the Spring term 2026 for a minimum of three months (e.g., March–May). It can be pursued part-time (approx. 10–15 hours per week) with flexibility to accommodate academic schedules.

The role can be based in Copenhagen (HQ) or remote, with standard working hours from 9:00 to 17:00 CET and flexibility upon agreement.

Who You Are

We are looking for a proactive and creative person with a collaborative attitude and eagerness to learn. You are required to be a Bachelor’s or Master’s student, and the internship should preferably be integrated into an academic programme. As this is an unpaid position, applicants should receive financial support from a third party (e.g., SU/CSN/Erasmus Stipendium or another student funding source).

If you are eager to gain hands-on experience in global non-profit communications and contribute to meaningful change, we encourage you to apply.

About Maternity Foundation

Maternity Foundation (MF) is an international non-profit organisation that works to ensure safer births for women and newborns through innovative programmes and digital solutions. From 2025, MF will accelerate the impact of the Safe Delivery+ programme, a comprehensive, evidence-based micro-learning universe with the Safe Delivery App – a free, evidence-based job aid, learning, and training tool designed to support predominantly midwives.

The programme holistically addresses maternal and newborn healthcare challenges through a multitude of activities, including a new Sub-Saharan Africa flagship initiative. The Safe Delivery+ Programme takes a lighthouse approach, where exemplary, cutting-edge practices act as frontrunners for innovative change that other countries can subsequently follow.

We are a team of around 40 colleagues working across our three global hubs in Ethiopia, Denmark, and India, representing diverse professional backgrounds – from midwifery and global health to communications and IT. Together, we are an ambitious, purpose-driven team working in a welcoming and informal atmosphere.

We are proud to share that we have now reached 500,000 midwives and other healthcare professionals worldwide, strengthening our shared vision that it should not cost life to give life!
