Maternity Foundation is looking for a part-time intern or volunteer Communications Coordinator 

Maternity Foundation is an international NGO working to ensure safer childbirths for women and newborns, everywhere. Through our Safe Delivery+ Programme, we use digital training and learning tools to support and train healthcare workers, and we work with partners in more than 15 countries across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Maternity Foundation is looking for a part-time intern or volunteer Communications Coordinator to support our External Relations unit, in particular our Communications Manager.  

Starting date is as soon as possible and place of work is Copenhagen.

We have different educational backgrounds and work experiences – global health, midwifery, anthropology, IT, and business – and we take pride in an entrepreneurial spirit and a can-do attitude. Position summary:
The Communications Coordinator will support the External Relations Unit in various communication tasks and by developing designs and layouts for various products, including presentations and reports, funds applications and multiple branding materials.  

Additionally, the Communications Coordinator will be supporting the management of Maternity Foundation’s website and social media accounts, including producing engaging content (e.g., video, infographics etc.) to reach more Danes and various global audiences and stakeholders.  

Other tasks will likely include providing support to writing e.g., press releases, op-eds, case stories, and newsletters. The Communications Coordinator would ideally also be supporting the management of campaigns, development of fundraising activities and rolling out branding efforts. Additionally, the Communications Coordinator should support research efforts on various target groups, social media trends and be able to present ideas for Maternity Foundation’s communication efforts going forward.  


We are looking for a creative person with strong visual and writing skills and preferably with knowledge or interest in the intersection between global health, development and technology. You are organized, able to meet deadlines and enjoy working in an international setting.  

We envision you are 

  • Studying communications, media science, graphic design, or the related studies.  
  • Fluency in English with excellent writing skills (fluency in Danish is an asset) 
  • Creative with strong visuals and writing skills. 

Terms and conditions: 

The position is part-time (hours to be agreed upon with the right candidate) and based at Maternity Foundation’s headquarter in Copenhagen.  

The position is voluntary, but you’ll get a lot of responsibility and an opportunity to develop your skill set while contributing to Maternity Foundation’s work to ensure safer child births for women everywhere.
