Maternity Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Srikant Vaidyanathan to its board

Srikant brings more than 25 years of experience advising CEOs and boards across the biopharma, medtech, technology, and non-profit sectors. Today, he serves as a Senior Partner at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and a BCG Institute Fellow. As a Fellow, Srikant focuses on how health equity can be embedded into the strategy and governance of companies and how these efforts can translate into sustained outcomes.

His appointment comes at an exciting time for Maternity Foundation. Health equity is at the heart of the organisation’s mission to improve access to quality maternal and newborn healthcare in low-resource settings. To date, Maternity Foundation has reached more than 500,000 midwives and other healthcare professionals worldwide through its Safe Delivery App and accompanying training programme, supporting them in providing quality care to mothers and newborns where that care is needed most.

“We are thrilled to welcome Srikant Vaidyanathan to our board. His extensive experience advising leaders across the global health sector, combined with his work on health equity, will be an invaluable asset as we continue to strengthen our impact and expand our reach. Ultimately, this will help us support more midwives and other healthcare professionals and improve outcomes for more mothers and newborns around the world,” says Anna Frellsen, CEO, Maternity Foundation

Srikant has been a long-standing supporter of Maternity Foundation’s work and mission.

“Anna and I first met five years ago while I was researching the role of women in advancing health equity. I was struck by what she and the team at Maternity Foundation were building. We stayed in touch and have since had opportunities to collaborate on bringing this agenda forward. Maternity Foundation’s mission, making birth safer for women and newborns in some of the world’s most challenging settings, is one I deeply believe in. I am honoured to support that mission in this new role as board member,” says Srikant.

Prior to joining BCG, Srikant led the Research and Development, Manufacturing and Marketing unit at Corning Incorporated in the United States, where he led the development of several products from concept to market and now holds more than 30 global patents.

He holds a PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and currently serves on the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) Innovation and Business Board within UK Research and Innovation.

Srikant joins a board currently comprising six accomplished leaders from across sectors.

Together, the Board provides oversight, guidance and governance to support Maternity Foundation’s continued growth and impact.
