Launch of new website to support usage of The Safe Delivery App
How do I use the Safe Delivery App in a training of midwives? Where is the App being used? Who developed the App? The answer to these – and many other – questions can now be found at www.safedelivery.org.
The purpose of the website is to compile resources and information to support organizations and individuals in implementation of The Safe Delivery App. The App is developed by University of Copenhagen, University of Southern Denmark and Maternity Foundation and is currently used in more than 40 countries. It has been downloaded more than 19.000 times and Maternity Foundation has established around 20 partnerships for implementation of the App across Africa and Asia.
The implementation resources found at the new website include a toolbox with tips, guides and presentations for midwifery trainings, examples of user scenarios and testimonials from current App users.
In addition, the website presents general background information about The Safe Delivery App, including the story of the App’s development, a new short intro film about the App’s key features as well as case stories with implementation results.
Maternity Foundation has made a commitment with UN’s Every Woman Every Child to reach 20.000 skilled birth attendants with the App before end 2018. The website is an important milestone in providing the resources necessary for getting the App into the hands of as many health workers as possible.
In addition to this new virtual knowledge hub, the mHealth Competency Center – based at Maternity Foundation’s headquarters in Copenhagen – continues to support partners with implementation of the App on-the-ground as well as collecting global best practice and learnings on how to most effectively improve maternal and neonatal health through The Safe Delivery App.
The development, implementation and dissemination of The Safe Delivery App is supported by MSD for Mothers and The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
